The FarmTRX technology was initiated by a Canadian farmer and technologist who had three combine harvesters on his farm without yield monitors. He wanted to collect data from his fields, but after searching the market to retrofit his older model harvesters with a retrofit yield monitor, he was unable to find an easily installed, affordable yield monitor that was easy to use. In the last 5 years the technology, hardware components and software have evolved significantly in collaboration providing a powerful and flexible web mapping platform. FarmTRX offers a hardware kit that can be installed by the farmer. The operator has access to a web and mobile app that allows him/her to view, process and download information. The yield data is processed, hosted and stored online so it can be accessed any time. The farmer retains all ownership of all data, but can also chose to share it with others such as their agronomist or another trusted advisor.

Flexible and Compatible for Your Data Needs 

Farmers have access to and own all of their data. There are two ways to access this data:

• Subscription to FarmTRX App: For the first harvesting season, the farmer has a free subscription to the FarmTRX web app that processes the raw yield data into yield maps.
• The FarmTRX web app automatically:
  •  cleans and filters anomalous points,
  •  correlates between multiple combines,
  •  removes headland turns,
  •  identifies and corrects partial swath,
  •  calibrates and corrects to create a “true-to-field” yield map. 
• These automated processes would normally take a trained data professional many hours. 
• After the first year the farmer can decide to renew the subscription (which is based on the number of hectares farmed) OR the farmers can still continue using the system free of charge and export the raw data into a farm management program of their choice.
• Export Raw Data: Data can always be exported for free from the FarmTRX web app as raw points in .shp or .csv format. These formats can be easily imported into most farm management programs.
• Data compatible with Climate FieldView, My John Deere, MyEasyFarm, etc

How does it work?

• The FarmTRX Yield Monitor Kit can easily be user-installed on any age/model combine in only a few hours using common tools, specific tools are provided in the kit. 
• The yield monitor features :
  • built-in GPS antenna
  • bluetooth connectivity, 
  • memory to store 5+ years of yield data

• It uses optical sensors mounted on the clean grain elevator to measure yield, which are much more robust, serviceable & user friendly than impact plate style sensors.
• After installation, there are few steps needed before you can begin harvesting. Pre-harvest setup takes about 5 minutes. There are a couple steps before harvesting begins:
  • Tare
  • enter header-to-clean grain elevator delay
  • enter the crop type
  • Select the header type

Alternately, these settings can be applied after harvest as well, just confirm the unit has power and go.
